GSA GSP & GSE

The GSA 2023 Application is open NOW until January 8th.

For three weeks every summer, over 200 of Kentucky’s most talented and creative high school students are invited to grow and learn together at the Governor’s School for the Arts’ college summer residence program.  Current Sophomores and Juniors in high school are offered in-depth instruction in one of nine artistic disciplines: architecture + design, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theatre, film and photography, visual art, and vocal music.  The honor of experiencing GSA includes: Attending the program for FREE (all students receive full tuition, room and board). Opportunities to learn in a supportive community of distinguished master-teachers. College preparation, career counseling, and the chance to meet college representatives during an exclusive GSA college fair. Arts-related community service opportunities. The excitement of performing/exhibiting at the Student Festival at the conclusion of the program. Students are immersed in a rigorous schedule of daily seminars, master classes, lectures, hands-on workshops and field trips. While each student specializes in one art form, all students participate in structured, interdisciplinary arts experiences designed to familiarize them with the joys and challenges of specialties other than their own.  Upon completion of the summer program, students become part of the ever-growing GSA alumni network, gaining a variety of opportunities such as scholarships and funding through the Toyota Alumni Fund.

Scholarships Offered to GSP Participants

The 2023 GSE application will close January 23, 2023.

The Governor's School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) will begin accepting applications for summer 2023 until Monday, January 23rd.  GSE brings teens together from around KY, immerses them in a creative space, and arms them with the tools they need to unleash their entrepreneurial spirits.  While all participants gain vital entrepreneurial skills through-out the program to use as they enter the workspace or continue into higher education, 11 new businesses have already been launched by young entrepreneurs.  Others have filed for multiple patents and developed new ideas and relationships that sow the seeds for more business formation.  In addition, as a direct result of their participation in GSE, participants qualify for scholarship opportunities from KY universities and colleges. GSE has arranged to host virtual events this fall to showcase the GSE experience and dive into the application process. This free program will take place at Northern KY University and is open to all current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.
